Return Policy & Warranties

Returns & Warranties

We want you to be happy with your purchase. Here's how returns, refunds and warranties work at The Appliance Shop.

Change-of-mind returns — 14 day policy

If you've simply changed your mind, we'll refund or exchange most goods provided you let us know within 14 days of purchase, and the item is:

  • in its original packaging and condition, including all attachments, accessories and documentation; and
  • unused.

Bundle deals must be returned together as a full set. Shopping vouchers are non-refundable for cash.

Excluded from change-of-mind returns: earphones, food preparation devices and personal care items (for hygiene reasons), licensed software and media (unless still sealed/unopened), and custom or special-order items (which may only be returned if faulty). This 14-day policy is offered by us in addition to, and does not replace, your rights under South African consumer law described below.

Your legal rights on faulty or defective goods

Under sections 55 and 56 of the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2009, goods you buy from us must be reasonably suitable for the purpose for which they're intended, of good quality, and free of defects. If goods you've purchased turn out to be defective, you may return them within six months of delivery, and we will, at our discretion, repair, replace, or refund the goods. This warranty does not cover normal wear and tear, or damage caused by misuse.

If you purchased online, you may also have a right under the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002 to cancel certain transactions within 7 days of receiving the goods, without reason or penalty (subject to the exclusions set out in that Act).

Manufacturer and supplier warranty

Many of our products also carry an extended manufacturer or supplier warranty beyond the standard 6-month period — the length and terms of this vary by product and brand, and are noted on the product page or included documentation where applicable. Warranties are voided by damage caused by lightning/power surges, misuse, use contrary to the manufacturer's instructions, or accidental damage.

How to start a return or warranty claim

Email us at sales@theapplianceshop.co.za with your order number and a description of the issue, and our customer care team will guide you through the process.

Refunds

Approved refunds are made back to your original payment method — a card payment is refunded to the same card, and an Instant EFT or cash-on-delivery payment is refunded to your nominated bank account.
